Test and Debug during design
  • Test and Debug during designPreliminary validations: Design or Buy?
This is the question appearing once you have specified the global architecture of your next electronic design. Implementing a functionality with a standard off-the-shelf component or an IP can be challenging and time-consuming when you check whether it properly functions within the expected range of performance.

  • Partial functional validations on prototype: How do I test an incomplete hardware?
Don’t wait until the end of the design cycle to go on real hardware. Stop spending your time designing the test environment instead of your design itself. Use commercially-available test boards to emulate what is available in your design and our PC instruments to emulate non-existing parts of it at the interfaces. Apply stimuli available from your design / simulation environment directly to your emulation board. Sample outputs.

  • Board-level and Component-level Debug / I/O stimulation and analysis
Place your probing anywhere on your board and sample data. Use a general purpose-connector and a PC to check registers, collect data streams and even apply stimuli. Generate control sequences, data and possibly provide missing clock signals. Use your PC early in the design cycle to run real-hardware test and debug scenario at full speed.

  • SPI / custom serial protocol access
Access IC that use serial protocols on their functional ports, as a master (exerciser) and analyser. Modify the protocol characteristics to access non-standard serial protocols. Directly control your prototype system function ports to access registers and send /collect data to / from memories.

    Products to consider:

    - GP Series : Multi-function and upgradeable digital I/O instruments used as pattern generator, logic analyser and bi-directional port exerciser / analyser. Use up to 16 data signal and 6 control signals at clock speeds starting from 50 MHz. Go to description...

    - Xpress SeriesSingle protocol-oriented exercisers and analysers. Access your system under test through serial ports that use standard and custom bi-directional protocols. Go to  description...

Validate & Characterise post-manufacturing prototype

Prototype Validation and Characterisation
  • Manual functional testing
Automated functional testing on chip or boards that have just returned from the fab can require further investigation from the system designers. Use our PC instruments for manual bench testing and fine-tune your automated tests by integrating our instruments C/C++ DLLs within your favorite programming environment.

  • Prototype system characterisation
Mixed analog-digital ICs are a typical  example of systems that require characterisation and calibration. Use our PC instruments to control their digital interface and your favorite programming environment (VB, C/C++, TCL/tk, Python, ...) to sequentially program a set of characterisation parameters onto your set of prototypes received from the fab. Automatically adjust the parameters with your PC and apply them again to your system.

    Products to consider:

GP Series and Xpress Series  : The 8PI Control Panel is used to control these devices. For each mode of operation (multiple modes of operation for the GP Series and single mode of operation for the Xpress Series), 3 user interfaces are provided:

    • Graphical user interface (MS-Windows): used for manual testing and configuration of the PC instrument.
    • TCL/tk scripting interface: useful to quickly build configuration and test sequences with an intuitive scripting language.
    • C/C++ DLL: the most powerful interface. Our C/C++ DLL are embeddable within C, Visual Basic, Python, LabView, and any other programming / test environment that accept C/C++ function calls.

Sales & Field Support
  • Sales and Field SupportPack a portable testing solution together with your product
Nowadays, going to the market with a new chip or a new standard board requires building a whole environment of document, software and hardware tools to help your customers evaluate your silicon and/or your hardware. Many of our PC instruments are provided in a very compact form factor and powered from the USB connection. Using the provided C/C++ DLL allow you to develop a customised application that fit your customer's evaluation needs, especially to generate and send custom stimuli to your product.

  • Always have a PC instrument with you
No need for a custom rack or a non-standard interface. Byte Paradim PC instruments are meant to be personal and portable solutions that use common standards and external connections with the PC. Your PC, a cable, the instrument; this is all you need to start working with your target hardware.

    Products to consider:

GP Series and Xpress Series  : they are provided in a small (55 x 80 x 16 mm) and robust anodised aluminium package. They use a USB 2.0 high speed connection that also provides the power to the instrument. They are packed with flying lead wires for connection with your target board. Plug-in boards can be added to their connector to extend their functionalities.
